Alex Craps, rn, bsn, cbs
(She/her)
alex@loveyourbirth.org
Alex describes herself as a SAHM first and a postpartum nurse second. She also provides breastfeeding counseling, occasionally teaches newborn care classes, and has experience as a labor assistant and postpartum nurse for out of hospital births. She is currently working on obtaining IBCLC certification. Originally from Georgia, she moved to South Carolina in 2018 with her husband, who is a Lexington native. Aside from spending way too much time researching product labels and reviews, she also enjoys watching mukbangs with her family of 4 and 2 bratty cats . Alex has been fascinated by the birth process since elementary school after watching an episode of "A Baby Story." Alex believes that all families deserve access to a safe and empowering birth experience, with true informed consent and information that is evidenced based. She works to enhance the discussion of and education regarding postpartum depression and anxiety, both of which she has experienced first hand. She is extremely passionate about improving birth experiences and safety for the BIPOC community and truly enjoys helping to increase the numbers of brown babies receiving "chocolate milk." Her other passion is changing how society supports the postpartum period and wants families to appreciate how incredibly important those early days are for both the birth giver and newborn.
Alex has had two pretty awesome natural birth experiences of her own, her second one being a much hoped for water birth. Lastly, she wants you to know: Yes, she definitely wants to hear your birth story- just let her grab some snacks and a bubbly water first!
